I'm Not Dead!!

Hi guys! I'm still vertical and drawing breath, just very, very busy. Just thought I'd say that. Since I haven't the time right now to get into specifics of my extreme business as of late, I will leave you with a few good minutes of entertainment:

First, Some Music.
Next, Sexy Vegetarians.
Hmmm, let's try Obsolete Men.
Finally, Which Norse God/Goddess Are You?

Acutal life detail to follow at a later date.

Orientation

Well, other than the actual registration for classes, it was completely pointless. I will be done in three years if I have to twist the arm of every person I meet along the way. And I am a poor English major (actually, I just look at it this way, Sara's completely making up for me) and a decent Geography major. Unlike Sara, my schedule is relatively balanced; it's actually kind of amazing.

Monday - Friday - Calc II
Monday, Tuesday, Friday - Jesus in History
Tuesday and Thursday - Honors Seminar: Language Extinction and Revitalization
Monday - Friday - Biogeography of the Global Garden
Monday and Wednesday - Geography of Global Cities

So, let me explain something, I have two all week classes, but it doesn't bother me too much because once I'm done with both of them no more math or science. I'll do that to myself. Basically, it's just going to be more reading than I actually want to contemplate right now, but otherwise fine. (You know, averaging about 200 pages a week isn't bad is it? It's only what I did this year times two, which if I time manage I can definitely handle.)

Pictures!

So, no this isn't full of pictures from when we were in Kansas (those are stuck on Crystal's camera until a later date). These pictures are from my new camera. As some of you are aware, my camera died the night of graduation. Luckily, my father bought the two year replacement guarantee, so when I arrived home I had a lovely gift card with my name on it and the ability to go and buy a new camera. So, I'll leave you all with some pictures from my pretty new camera.

Okay, so not from the new camera, but I wanted to put these up anyway.

Hey look! It's my dog!

RED SHOES!!! Cute!

Announcement

Well, let's start out with the exciting part: Brian broke! Honest to God, broke. (He then lost the next two rounds, but it was really exciting nonetheless).

Many know this, and I hope I'm not ruining the surprise yet again, but it was really cool -- it made two days of Student Congress worth it.

Oh, and Rianna, what do you want for your birthday?

Or, you know, not.

FUDGE
I found my actual class schedule. I didn't get into the one political science class... I have three English classes and one Parable-Based FYSEM. The one spare English class is on at noon on MWF. PICKADILLY. American Literature after 1860; this is going to be a lot of reading!
Oh, wait... yay!

Nationals: Day 1 (Maybe 2)

So, we have survived thus far, and as of yet, no major freak out on Pritschet's behalf. Although, I did think there might be a coup earlier in the van.

I'll go back to tomorrow. We left Brainerd around eight in the morning, and drove until around 12 when we stopped at a rest stop in Iowa and about 45 minutes later we stopped at a Burger King for lunch (my parents gave us $100 for Burger King food). We then did not stop again until we reached Kansas where we stopped at gas station and five minutes after we left we at dinner at Applebee's.

We arrived at the Kansas Inn just before 10 (I won the bet between Kubas, Brian and myself as to when we were going to get to the hotel -- I said ten, the other two were actually later than that). We settled in and were all in bed a little after eleven.

We were up today around 10, and at 12:30 we headed out on the Suburban to hit the mall and Target and find lunch. We at a Chinese restaurant with really good rice; I liked it a lot, and then Jenna, Sonya and I wandered around the mall, I bought a bra because I forgot to bring another one and a poster for Kalley.

There had been a little tension when we left and Jenna hadn't printed out her cases from Pritschet and he thought she would have had them to him by now, and well, let's just say it got worse from there on.

In the car, Pritschet critiqued her case yet again and she was ready to kill him -- to be fair, although not as bad as what I had heard as what happened last year -- it wasn't pretty. So, Deebs and I talked as we walked throughout Barnes and Noble; about Pritschet, about pretty much the whole situation. I think I pretty much made the point clear when I asked him, "So, do you think that Pritschet has a relationship with any of his debaters that you have with some of the debaters you don't really get along with?" He said no, and that's the problem inherent with Pritschet; he just lacs the communication skills necesary to make this all work.

Basically, if everyone hasn't guessed, Deebs is seriously the most awesome human being in the world. We came back to the hotel (3:15-ish) and our room became Debate central and I did some research for Student Congress, and around four thirty Deebs wandered in and he sat with us for like an hour before he sent Brian up to Pritschet with his cases. Deebs basically explained Pritschet's stance, kind of to them, and definitely to me when we went on our walk. I think it got better although he said that Brian's cases were rough, and it in the end kind of worked out.

We had Chili's for dinner; as in, we ordered the food, and Deebs and I went to get it. I came back to find out I'll be leaving at 6:30 tomorrow morning. So, that's the update. I'm sure there is more that I'm leaving out, but that's all I have for now.

Oh, and I did call my dad and wish him happy father's day. Yay me! Pritschet and Deebs liked their cards so pretty much the whole day was a success.

I'm going to bed. I'm getting up in about 6 hours. *hiss*

Meet Ike...

He's pretty much the cutest thing ever. Yes. I have another picture on facebook, for anyone interested. Other than puppy training, I've been working and going to grad parties. Sara, that's an amazing class load.

Asparagus

I always feel bad bumping people's posts down over here.

This one isn't significant to the majority of the blogging world, I'm afraid. Unless you are the type of blogger who likes to go rooting out little useless tidbits of information about odd people, please skip over this note and go down to the much more profound blog post below. If you are, however, one of those charming tidbit snufflers... please, I entreat you to the heartworming life nugget below:

I finally got my butt in gear and registered for classes at Hamline.
My schedule is as follows:

Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: Everything
Wednesday: Orchestra
Thursday: Everything Else
Friday: Nothing

The classes that I will be taking on Tuesdays and Thursdays are... *drum roll please*

8:00 am - 9:10 am Reading and Writing Texts
10:20? am - 11:30 am British Literature to 1789
(Lunch break)
12:50 - 2:50 FYSEM: Ancient Fable in Modern Contexts
3:00 pm - 4: 00 pm Contemporary Politics/Political Theory

I actually didn't fix my schedule that way intentionally. I only noticed about half way through filling out my schedule that all of the classes I picked had lined up for Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I just nailed the PoliSci class on the end to fill out the day. I'll just spend the rest of my week studying. Wednesday nights I'll have orchestra practice, too (because French Horns really are the ultimate instrument). Other than that I've got a pretty loose week. We'll see how this works out, and if it is for the best. I'm still taking the max credit load. That is, if I can find that two credit yoga class Hamline said was offered... maybe Tuesday and Thursday nights?

Graduation is change.

Just a warning, yes, my brain is honest to god thinking in analogies along the lines of: graduation is change. What that compares to? You can come up with your own ending.

Graduation night was fun; the craziness of running around trying to find people and hug everyone and not to cry... just thinking about all of it is so overwhelming now that I wonder how we didn't all go insane. Personally, the highlight of my night (aside from Sara's speech which was simply stunning), was talking to Dissell on the hill for ten minutes. It is strange how normal that was after all the other things that happened, but it was a relieving normal. The next morning was normal despite its inherent strangeness. Oh, and if anyone could get a hold of a certain someone tomorrow, I would be deeply appreciated. Pritschet's melting down and I believe it is unfortunately slightly my fault, but whatever, I can't fix everything.

Graduation is over. I'm not sure I'm going to like the change, and change and I have yet to come to a grudging acceptance of one other (I'm sure it's years down the round - I'm stubborn).

Whatever, not that big of a deal; I should sleep, but I just thought I'd say, I've graduated, and graduation is change, but change is not as inevitable as everyone says - it's more like evolution. Thus, change is evolution.

But more people dislike the term "evolving" than the number who dislike "change." Then again, when have I cared about that?

Graduation is change. Change is evolution.

Graduation is evolution.
