I'm pretty sure I landed the best summer job on the planet. Seriously. I managed to land an Administrative Internship at the City of Baxter, and it is amazing. 8-4:30 Monday thru Friday. No holidays. Hour lunch break. And this is just the beginning. The job itself is fun! I'm scanning in documents for now, and next week, I get to start some desk work. I have a feeling that will be even more fun. I get to go to the meetings, take minutes and participate. It's pretty much the best gig I've ever landed.
In other news...I'm officially home for the summer, which you all know by now. I had my first sleep-over of the summer at Sarah's last night. Tonight is Pirates, dressed as a pirate. Fun, fun. Monday, hopefully, is dinner with Elizabeth. Next week is graduation. Lots of great fun that is funny. Woo hoo! It's great to be back!

Norge, mit Norge!
Holy crap. This country is amazing. Seriously. Just beautiful. Currently, I'm sitting outside the hostel on the back deck. This deck looks out over a lake with snow-capped mountains behind it. It's a beautiful day; neither too hot nor too cold. Just sweatshirt and jeans weather, which has always been my favorite. This trip has been incredible, and it's kind of hard to believe that it's almost over. Tomorrow we get on the bus to Oslo, have a farewell dinner, then free time in Oslo, go to bed, wake up, pack, and get to the airport by 11. Then lots of traveling home. We spent time in Oslo, Bergen, Lillehammer (where the Olympics were held), Hamar, Kristiansand, and Voss. Today was Sytennde Mai (sp?), which is essentially the Norwegian 4th of July times 10. It was amazing. Something like 75% of the people we saw today were dressed in their traditional Norwegian outfits, called Bounads (sp?) which are very ornately decorated, and have different colors based on where the wearer is from. (yes, I took a million pictures in the least awkward way possible. :p) There were two parades today, a children's parade this morning, so all the little kids are walking up the street with their parents and they're all dressed up and soooooo adorable. Then at about noon we played an outdoor concert for the citizens of Voss, which was amazing. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day, about 70 degrees. I could see the mountains from where I was sitting while we were playing. For the encore, we had the bus driver, Jan Ole, conduct. It was hilarious. Then to get back at Jones, Jan Ole had Jones drive us back to the hostile. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Jones, and I trust him, but this is the man that last week asked what stop signs look like in Norway. So I buckled my seatbelt and felt a little bit better that Jan Ole was sitting right next to him telling him how to drive. Yikes.
So I can't decide if I want to be home or not. I miss all of you, but at the same time all of this is stunningly beautiful. This morning, I woke up, looked out the window, and saw the lake still as glass with the mountains as a backdrop. You can't beat that. It was incredible. So, as I always am on really good vacations, I'm completely torn. *wrinkles nose* oh well. I've had the chance to live my fairy tale, and now it's time for me to wake up and return to the real world. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to come on this trip. I've gotten to know a bunch of new people, and feel a little bit more comfortable in the band. Next year will be a blast.
But I think I'm going to go be social now. (probably not, but it's a good thought)

Back from the Apathetic
I really wasn't dead. I could have posted, I just didn't feel like doing anything the last week or so. I am happy to say, however, that I am feeling like posting today. I think I'm going to go back to the 5th grade, and make a high/low list for the last week. I'll alternate so that there isn't a high concentration of depressing or happy news all at once:
+ Picnic for MPIRG: We had a great time with meat and veggie burgers alike. In sum, a splendid time had by all
- I started preparing too early for my final tests. I thought, "Hey! I'll get a head start on this whole studying thing. It'll make it easier on me later, right?" I should have procrastinated. Now I'm really prepared, and I have to wait until next week to take the freaking tests. I want to come home, and I want to come home now, but I can't because I have to wait to take the tests I could easily take today and pass them with high enough scores to keep up my current GPA. There's a reason I procrastinate, and apparently this is it.
+I bought an issue of GQ. Now, before you go all psycho on me, I had a
good reason. A six page article? I'm a mere mortal. Forgive me.
-Packing. I hate it. I wish I had magical powers so I could just zap my stuff home with a filick of a finger. Damn, why didn't I get that letter from Hogwarts?
+Thank a thons at work. I get to call people, thank them for giving money, and I don't have to ask them for anything at all. The people I call are very pleased to talk to me, and I don't waste time calling answering machines only to hang up. Yep, I get to leave a message. The best part about the thank a thon: I have to call a three page list, and when I'm done,
I get to leave. No calling the same answering machines three times. Yes!
-Financial aid changes. Good thing: I got a subsidized federal loan, meaning I won't have to pay interest. Bad thing: My work study got cut, and my Hamline Grant decreased. That means more money I have to come up with. I will work it out, but it still sucks.
+Warm weather. Warm weather is a real plus because at least I can study outside. That means I can stare into space instead of reviewing the global economy for the ump-teenth time.
That's about it in a nutshell. I'm coming home in exactly a week, almost to the minute. This makes me extremely happy. This is my level of excitement: <---------------------------->

Hi guys!
I realized it's been awhile since I posted over here. So now I am posting.
Not much has been going on in my life of late. Lots of studying. A little reading (
e.e. Cummings and the like). Ooh! I've picked up a penchant for adopting plants. One of them is
Valencia. She is my pet
Norway Maple. I planted her yesterday in honor of
Arbor Day. Arbor Day was sometime last week. I do not know if Norway Maples are used to this kind of weather (it's been raining a lot here), but she's a tough little thing (she has survived the past week and a half as the centerpiece of our kitchen table).
Crystal will have to meet Valencia when she gets back from her trip, so that they can talk about
fjords and
other Norwegian things.
My other plant-pet is Roopert. Roopert is the abused
Zonal Geranium I rescued from experimentation in AP Bio. Despite my careful care and attention, I'm afraid Roopert is not doing very well. I'm waiting until the weird weather stops to transplant him outside. I think the fresh air would do him some good. Here is a picture. This is Roopert:
So, other than obsessive plant care, I have not been up to much. Mainly defending myself from an odd strain of
senioritis. The kind of senioritis where you still get all of your work done and what not, but just... bbbbbbbbllllllllllaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh? Maybe that's not senioritis. Maybe that's just
Spring Fever.
Alright, I'll stop typing now. I was just really excited to have figured out how this link system works (
surprise!), but like I said, I'm stopping now. Hope everyone has had a great weekend, can't wait to see you back this summer! We'll have to go

Someday I'll fly away...
and that day is tomorrow. I can't believe it's tomorrow already. 15 days in Norway. It'll be fantastic. I'm really, really excited. (by the way, this is me putting off packing because I just don't want to) At the same time, it makes me hyper-aware of the fact that I won't be talking to most of you for the next two weeks. To all of you still at BHS: good luck with your AP exams; you'll do fine, but good luck anyways. To those in college: good luck on your finals.
To all of you: much love from me. I'll be back on Saturday, May 19th and I will most likely collapse into my couch from exhaustion. I have that Sunday off then real life starts again on Monday with school from 8-1 and work from 2-9. I'll see you all when I get back to the States.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!
Sara and Michelle didn't get a chance to see Hamline at it's peak. So, I was putting off my homework today and decided that, since it is a beautiful day, I would take pictures. Even if you're not Sara or Michelle, this is one beautiful campus in the spring, so it's worth a look.
