Collecting Dust?

Okay. I read my way through the Blog thus far and back again. I think I "get it" now: Blogs are social cyber-gatherings for intelligent bantering and "palaver" (word of the day). In relation to mass-mails, Blogs would probably score much higher on an IQ test. That said, here goes posting!

I finally got Rejection Letter No. 3 for The Blessed. Ouch. Though I'd much rather have a query returned to my rejection folder than still sitting in drafts.

Rejection letters are all pretty standard; I should know... I've started a collection. Some people collect rocks; some people collect books; some people collect art; I collect rejection letters. What can I say? It's a hobby. That starched paper, that glistening ink, those concise, pert little words that reek of pursed lips and tie clips? Positively addicting. This last one falls into the category of "long rejection letters." Though I must say, Nathan Bransford: the loss is yours! Six drafts and probably a college degree from now, we'll just see what kind of material you are looking for... Muahahahaha!

Thank you for your recent letter. I regret to say that your work doesn’t appear to be the kind of material I am currently looking for.

However, opinions vary considerably in this business, and I wish you the best of luck in your search for representation.

Best wishes,
Nathan Bransford

I must admit, Literary Agents do get some props for being nice about rejection letters. It would be much easier for them to mimic the cola companies with a "Drink Sprite: Play Again" post card or something.
Alright, I'd better get back to my homework. I was playing relay between writing BIO objectives and reading posts. Much, much fun! Wow, I really do miss you guys!!!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night

I'm sorry Sara. *hugs* You will be published one day; I'm sure of it. Just keep on trying. :)

What are you trying to get published? Is this one of those things I should know about, but either don't remember, or just spaced out? I feel like it is. Hmm, I shall have to search my inner self. In the mean time, good luck with whatever it is you are trying to get published. You are a fabulous writer! If I were a publisher, I would have published your e-mails from Europe. Those were highly entertaining, and very well written.

Totally agree with Rianna about the letters from Europe. It was seriously like sitting down and reading a story. It was great. I loved them...sorry if I never told you that Sara...but I am telling you now.

Yay, thank you! You guys are very sweet. Don't worry, it really, honestly does not bother me and I wouldn't have said anything unless I was fine with it, I really was just trying to dive head first into this "Blogging" concept. Haha, sorry. I'm trying to publish a novel but I keep hitting stop signs, which is actually a good thing because it means I'm not allowed to speed, and speeding isn't safe. Being as I have literally no credentials, I wasn't expecting anything to be smooth going. No matter what comes of it, I've gotten to learn a lot about the real world, politics, pubishing companies, and grammar (though mine is still questionable). So, it's all good! Very much fun! Love you guys
