...Hangin' Round the Ink-Well.
Salutations!Alright, being as this is the first night yet this year that I've actually finished my homework before dawn, I am going to write a very long and pretty report on the happenings of "G.I. Joe and Barbie Day" A.K.A. "Gender Role Reinforcement Day" (Copyright: Manly Mustaches).
We had a grand total of 14 black-clad protestors (sorry Rianna, I couldn't find any black flannel, but next Thursday we will be fully promoting Flannel Thursday!) and three half-protestors who reportedly "wore black for us, but not all black because that's just tacky." In total, that brings us to 14.5 protestors, which is a pretty good count. My one fear was that people would think we'd dressed up to be a SWAT team, but Alicia's Duct Tape Label, "Say 'No' to Gender Roles," off-set that. It was a sweet sacrifice on her part, because she spent the rest her day being plagued by people stopping her to ask her what she had against gender roles. Good ole', good ole' Brainerd.
The cross-dresser count was at least five; props to men in dresses. One kid was all decked out with fake glitter-eyelashes and hot-pink lipstick. Had he sung "The Beat Goes On" he could have been both Sonny and Cher.
I lost count of G.I. Joes, G.I. Janes, and Barbies: there were so many, the high school felt like an enchanted Mattel Company. For every high-healed punctured floor tile, there was a pair of army-boots to flatten it back out. And in the midst of it all, Principal Heiza standing on the balcony teasing the boys who didn't dress up like "everybody's favorite action hero." Now there's a fellow I can respect. Seniors: be glad you escaped when you did. Heiza has a zit-like ego: tempting to pop, but quick to leave a scar. I'll be the first to say it: I miss the Raz. That just goes to show: you don't know what you've got 'til it’s gone.
I only wish they'd scheduled the Senior Class Picture for today: that would have been precious.
On a lighter note: YIG Informational Meeting Tonight. That was fun. For anyone who's interested but couldn't make it to the meeting: find me, I have forms. It's a positively LIFE CHANGING experience.
Ooh! On an even lighter note, it was my mom's b-day today. We took her out to dinner. We fed her cake. It was fun.
Ooh! On an even, even lighter note (hold you breath, if we get any lighter, we might kiss the exosphere), it’s Thursday!
I'm going to give you two Words of the Thursday because, well, they're both such nice words, and as we all know, you can never have enough nice words!
Aesthete \ES-theet\, noun:
One having or affecting great sensitivity to beauty, as in art or nature.
Prelapsarian: Relating to any innocent or carefree period in the past.
Alright, I'd better get going, hope you are all doing well, can't wait to see Rianna and Crystal this weekend! I hope your work is nice to you, Sarah! Kara... I have a quote from Shelty in Euro yesterday that should also lighten your day (grab a star for me, while your up there) "Hey look! It's a Santa Pope!"
Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have to get my head out of the clouds and back into Feed. No homework means time to fun-read!

Ah Sara, how I miss you and can't wait to see you tomorrow. I love the "say no to gender roles" label, however. It's pretty amazing. Don't worry, I so would've worn black instead of flannel today as well. One needs to protest, after all.
Sorry I didn't wear black... it's just I don't really own any and I wasn't going to raid Kalley's closet. She would have thought I was insane, so I wore normal clothing.
Oh! Guess what? You should be able to go to both YIG and mock-Sections for Debate since Pritschet said it's about 90% for it being the weekend after YIG.
Yay for finishing homework early... now if I could only convince myself to do my extraneous Lang homework.
Late and random, but I miss Raz too. There was something strangely comforting to his oddness; you never knew quite what to expect, but he was always pretty cool about it. It's especially weird when you see him wandering around school and you think everything's back to normal before you remember that it's not and everyone's away at college and you still have eight god forsaken months left of this hell before you too can enter college with everyone else, and you're thankful for Debate because that keeps you sane, even if it only keeps me sane when I'm not wandering the novi, and realizing that Stephanie is in fact a genius and should realize this. But what I was trying to say: I miss Raz and want him to come back and be our principal.
Aesthete- One who loves shiny objects, aka... me! Not quite, but it works. I had about 4 people ask me if I was Goth Barbie yesterday. Where they got that, I don't know. Santa Pope! His outfit did look like things I've seen Santa wearing in pictures. "Merry Christmas! Jubilee Indulgences! You can all go to heaven now! (Provided you can afford an indulgence, of course.)"
Vice Principal Power Corruption Theory - Any person holding the position of Vice Principal that is promoted to the position of Principal immediately evolves to become way less cool.
Test 1 - Raz
Test 2 - Heiza
Confirmed on both accounts. I think I just need one more test, and then I can publish the theory.
Sara, are kyou actually enjoying Feed? I didn't even get halfway through it before I put it down. Obviously it was not so intriguing to me.
The exosphere would be very hard to kiss.
Pelk-You might get your chance when Fordyce assumes the top role.
But if he get's way less cool, how will anyone notice?
I hereby call this: Superpost.
Kara: Yay for YIG and Pritschet! I'll have to build him a trophy or something. Does anyone have any gold I can melt down?
Shelty: Exactly, it's like a toll booth for Jesus: how do people expect to keep the Highway to Heaven paved if they aren't paying their stinking indulgences?! Lowly peasants.
Pelk: I'm sure you could make millions on that theory. Millions.
Sarah: Are you kidding? I LOVE Feed! That's actually the third time I've read it, which probably isn't healthy, but, I love the way Anderson writes- it's absolutely terrifying: possibilities like his are always terrifying. His language is hard to work through(unit!) but his words become his bones. It shows how shallow that society has become: "playing among the ruined languages."
Max: Well, you could blow a kiss TO the exosphere and THEN it might work; I suppose it would sort of dissipate into the whole thing.
