Aww... Madison
The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad.
So, I think I should preface all of this with saying the lack of pictures here is due to my camera being very uncooperative yesterday while I was in Madison. I came home and took three pictures without the camera telling me the batteries were dying but when I was in Madison, it didn't want to take pictures. Hmm... maybe that's a sign that I should go there.

Isn't that a gorgeous red folder? They gave it to me when I showed up at the informational session. If it wasn't glaring red and had the Wisconsin logo plastered across the front, I would probably use it because it's a really good folder. On a side note, I'm really becoming bored with information session that was my fifth, official, one and they all tell you the same thing.
This guy is just one example of all these men standing on the corners throughout the campus handing out Bibles and trying to save me. My dad and I speculate that they chose old men because they're respectable and people will listen to them.

Again, had my camera not hated me, I would have taken more pictures of the cows. This is just one example; some of them were pretty cool, but I don't actually remember the explanation for them. I do remember it was rather anti-climatic.

This is the outside of one of the student unions. I really liked the colorful chairs.

And the best part of the entire campus. I really did like the lake. However, what you can't see from these pictures that there is a gigantic hill in the middle of campus that I would have to walk over about four times a day, and I'm not sure I really liked the layout of the campus. Otherwise, it's a beautiful school with very nice things. I'm just not sure I liked it more than the University of Minnesota, but if it comes down to those two, I'll have to visit the U again before I make my decision.

Wow, the lake is truly amazing. I wouldn't be a fan of the hill, for obvious reasons, but I think a hill is somewhat ok for the normal population that can walk. I mean, it's not like you walk up the hill both ways in the rain and sleet 7 times to get to class.
How is UW? Lade suggested that I apply there...probably in opposition to applying at Hamline.
The campus is beautiful and huge. And yes, Lade is very much a fan of UW. Personally, I would never be able to know anything about a campus until I visit it, but it's nice enough. It just depends on what you're looking for.
I would use that folder.
Man, I miss Lade. He should come visit.
You sure seem to have a Nietzsche thing. I tried reading Thus Spake Zarathustra a while ago, and it was pretty interesting and a surprisingly easy read, but then I had to return it to the library before I could finish it.

It's alright if you'd rather not elaborate, but just curious: what are your religious beliefs/lack thereof?
I miss Lade too.
As for your question Sam, it's definitely a skepticism in regards to all religions, and the guy on the corner bothers me strictly because I don't like religious solicitation. If you believe what you believe, that's fine with me, but when at every corner a Bible is being shoved in my face, I find that rather obnxious.
Don't worry Kara, those old men populate all kinds of public college campuses. We had them here at NDSU handing out Bibles as well (the New Testament to be more specific). They were nice enough so it didn't really bother me, I just smiled and said "No thank you." The campus does look pretty nice, ahhh...a lake...haven't seen one of those for a while (I'm not being sarcastic considering my location).
Most of them weren't horrible but there were a couple of them that wouldn't give it up even after I said "No thanks." And that's where they started to bother me, and I kind of suspected it's a college thing.
Ah, don't get the wrong impression. I'm a hardcore atheist.
(aka I agree completely swith your stance)
Myself, I'm a Meta-agnostic: I'm not sure if I'm not sure about religion.
Man "Goedel, Escher, Bach" is a sweet book.
I'm a Bokononist.
Rather, I'm a person who recognizes the importance of religious values to peoplekind, toys with the possibility of her own religious values, was raised in religious values, but ultimately just smiles and nods at the universe.
You know what the best part is? I'm going to a Methodist college, and I have yet to see a bible person. Or a bible, for that matter...
heh heh bokonon.
More like church of god the utterly indifferent, am I right?
Maybe they assume since you're already in a Christian college you have a copy of the Bible at your ready disposal and do not see the point in handing them out to you.
But I don't have a bible at my ready disposal. I finally saw a Bible on this campus for the first time yesterday, when we had the Christian Studies professor come speak to our class about what Christianity says about money. It's pretty cool, actually. Nest week we're doing Judaism and Buddhism.
Man, I didn't expect anyone to comment after me.
There are about 1600 posts above it now.
Keep it up.
Alright Max, just for you. How are you doing today? Life going ok? Are you enjoying the weather? How about those Twins, huh?
